Sophia Halberstam

Sophia Halberstam is the Senior Marketing Manager at GAIL’s & Bertinet Bakery, where she manages the development and expansion of the brands in the grocery arena.

Sophia initially channelled her obsession with food and drink into a food blog as hobby. But after cutting her teeth in a boutique strategy consultancy, decided to make the move into the food & drink industry. She was the first person to join the plant-based meat alternative brand, THIS. The company grew from zero revenue (pre-launch) to £14million in in her time there, also winning The Drum Marketing award for Emerging Brand.  Over the course of her career Sophia has had to make as much noise as possible, often with limited budget, which has led to some headline-grabbing stunts (and a few calls from the police…).  As a believer that creativity can’t flourish in a vacuum, Sophia draws on other creative arts for inspiration: she is a portrait painter and a singer with the 2x Emmy nominated band, Mediaeval Baebes.
